What Chimeby would ask Reddit for

Connecting a Reddit account is optional. Chimeby works without it, with fewer numbers to reason about. If you do connect one, this is the whole list of permissions it would ever ask for, and Reddit shows you the same list on its own screen before you agree to anything.

identity

Reads your username, the age of the account and its comment karma. Chimeby needs those three numbers to tell you whether a reply naming your product would be filtered before anybody read it.

history

Reads your own public comments, the ones anyone can see on your profile. This is how Chimeby works out what share of your replies in a community mention your product, which is the one number Reddit itself publishes a limit for.

Reads public posts and comments in the communities you ask Chimeby to watch. Nothing private, nothing from your messages.

That is all three. There is no fourth.

What it refuses

Five permissions are refused outright. Chimeby does not ask for them, and it has no code that would know what to do with them.

• ·The one Reddit calls submit, which would let an application publish a comment as you.
• ·The one Reddit calls edit, which would let it change a comment you already posted.
• ·The one Reddit calls vote, which would let it vote as you.
• ·The wildcard, which is every permission at once.
• ·The equivalent on X, which would let an application post as you there.

The refusal is written down in three places. It is in the list of permissions the code may ask for. It is a rule on the accounts table itself, so a row carrying a posting permission is rejected by the database before it is ever written, whatever else in the product might one day ask for one. And it is a check that runs on every build and fails it if any of those five words turns up in a permission list anywhere in the code.

A second check fails the build if any future browser extension tries to click or send anything on a reddit.com or x.com reply box. There is no such code today, and this exists so there cannot be tomorrow without somebody deleting the check on purpose.

The honest part

All of that is a policy. Chimeby wrote it and Chimeby could take it out with one deploy.

So the claim on this page is not that Chimeby cannot post as you. It is narrower than that, and it is the true one: Chimeby does not ask for the permission, it shows you the exact list before you connect, Reddit shows you the same list, and you can take it away at any moment without asking anybody.

Anyone selling you an impossibility here is selling you a feeling. What you can actually hold Chimeby to is the list, the fact that you can see it, and the fact that you can revoke it.

How to check it yourself

None of this asks you to take Chimeby's word for it.

• ·Before you connect, Reddit's own screen lists the permissions being asked for. Read it. If it names anything beyond identity, history and read, do not agree to it, and tell Chimeby.
• ·After you connect, reddit.com/prefs/apps lists every application you have authorised and what each one may do. Chimeby is on that list, with those three permissions and nothing else.
• ·Removing access takes one click on that page, and it does not ask Chimeby's permission. Your queue, your drafts and your history all survive it. Chimeby just knows less about your account, and the safety check gets more cautious rather than less.
• ·Chimeby never asks for your Reddit password, and there is nowhere in the product to type one.

Where Reddit access stands today

Chimeby has no Reddit credential. Reddit requires approval before an application may read its data, and the self-serve form that used to issue credentials no longer does. That was confirmed by hand on 16 September 2026, by filling the form in and watching it answer with a link to the policy instead of an identifier.

Chimeby's requests are filed and nothing is running against Reddit until one of them is granted. Until then the product listens to Hacker News, which needs no permission from anybody, and to threads you paste in yourself, which needs nothing at all.

Reddit monitoring carries a coming soon tag everywhere it appears, including on the pricing page, and there is a waitlist rather than a sale.

What Chimeby never does

• ·It never posts, on any platform, under any setting. There is no automatic mode in the code, in the pricing or as something you could pay to unlock.
• ·It never owns or rents accounts, and it will not work with bought, aged or shared ones.
• ·It has no follow, unfollow, direct message or upvote feature, and none is planned.
• ·It never puts a tracking link in a Reddit reply.
• ·It never lets one of your drafts be reused for somebody else, and it stops two Chimeby customers answering the same thread.

The safety rules

There are 25 of them and they run before Chimeby will let you copy a reply. Each one is stored with the source it came from and the date that source was last checked by hand, and each one is versioned, so a change to a rule is a new version rather than a quiet edit of the old one.

They are identical on every plan. An account owner can tighten them for their own organisation. Nobody, on any plan, at any price, can loosen them.

Most of the numbers are a conservative operating point, built from what is publicly known about how these platforms filter. One of them is not: the limit of one reply in ten naming your own product is the number Reddit's own moderator help publishes, and Chimeby says so wherever it uses it.

The caps reduce risk. They are not compliance, they are not permission, and no platform has reviewed or agreed to them.

Other people's words

Posts and comments written by other people are deleted 47 hours after Chimeby first sees them, which matches Reddit's own guidance about holding its content. A deletion reported by the platform is applied at once rather than waiting for the 47 hours to run out.

None of that text ever reaches an email, a report, an analytics event or a log. Digests carry titles and links. The privacy page sets out the whole of it.

If you are a moderator and a Chimeby customer has replied in a way you do not want in your community, write to the same address and name the community. Chimeby can stop drafting for it across every customer at once, and it will.
